Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus is now accepting applications for Lead Software Engineer. The Lead Software Engineer designs complex systems and integrations with a high level of reliability, execution, speed, and ease of use. This position oversees the performance and operation of multiple systems and provides leadership to junior software engineer and developers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads a group of software engineers in design and development of complex software applications and system integrations
  • Designs and implements applications according to customer’s specifications
  • Works with functional owners to leverage existing applications or recommend new solutions to improve or enhance business processes
  • Determines clear, achievable goals and objectives of each project
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, and implements corrective measures to maintain an efficient operational environment
  • Plans and organizes business workflow to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Defines new coding standards and optimum methods of problem solving
  • Develops and maintains documentation on requirements, functional and technical specifications, and testing procedures
  • Researches new technologies, determines potential impact on current business processes and recommends as appropriate

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems or a related field and seven (7) years of progressive experience in systems analysis and programming
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Strong working knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts of computer programming
  • Strong working knowledge of industry information technology and impact on processes
  • Strong working knowledge of integration techniques such as Web Services
  • Strong working knowledge of database development using Microsoft SQL
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programming applications or systems programming techniques using ASP.Net/VB.Net
  • Strong technical mindset and a keenness and ability to quickly learn and embrace new technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and end users
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
