POSITION OVERVIEW: Registered Nurses on PACT teams are critical to the success of the people served by Bridgeway. RNs provide nursing assessment, direct-support services, and primary health screening to individuals whose goals include recovery from mental illness and substance use conditions. PACT RNs use their skills to provide leadership, support, and education to other team members in nursing/medical treatment and health care. Registered Nurses are an essential part of a multi-disciplinary team working together to provide individuals the tools to become and remain stable and healthy in the community. PACT RNs receive ongoing training, and supportive supervision as they deliver evidence-based interventions, and wrap-around services.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Substance Registered Nurse
- Completes nursing assessments and participates with the team in the development of the comprehensive assessment and individualized recovery plan providing knowledge and expertise from the nursing discipline
- Delivers direct care to individuals: mental and physical health education, community living skill training and supportive counseling in the home and other natural environments to people served and significant others, often focusing on psychiatric medication benefits and side-effects, and physical health
- Administers prescribed medications and injections in-home as necessary
- Assesses individuals’ daily living skills, and teach individuals needed health and wellness skills in the home
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or Bachelor degree in nursing, Bachelor degree preferred
- Minimum of one-year experience working with persons with serious and persistent mental illness
