The Surgical Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides patient care in collaboration with specific surgeons, via face-to-face or telehealth. Conducts surgical history/physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic/lab tests and develops plan of care. Writes prescriptions, controlled substances per Delineation of Privileges. First assists in surgery. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Performs procedures in the clinic arena under direct or indirect supervision. The NP synergistic relationship with the surgeon and highly technical skills increases patient safety and positive surgical outcomes. Enables the continuity of care by managing patients in the pre, intra and post operative settings. Performs inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care and bedside procedures. In the outpatient setting, manages clinics, clinic procedures, facilitates family and patient education, and participates in grand rounds. Works directly with staff, administration, patients and families to ensure quality care across the continuum as an expert in surgical practice areas. Performs on-call coverage requiring high-level decision making on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends inclusive of surgery.

Estimated salary range for this position is $104066 – $138407 / year depending on experience.

Qualifications Degrees: Masters Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse First Assist Certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Basic Life Support Drug Enforcement Administration Additional Qualifications: 3 years of relevant experience credit required. Obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges. Compliant with state requirements for CEUs/CMEs and licensure renewal. DEA License required as per specialty. If APRN does not have acute care certification, refer to BHSF Policy 701 titled Educational and training requirements to be credentialed to work in an acute care setting for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN, formerly ARNP). Demonstrates proper surgical and sterile technique. BLS/ACLS as per specialty. National Certification. Minimum Required Experience:
