Avar Consulting is seeking a Medical Coding Supervisor to join our team, supporting a federal government agency.

The Medical Coding Supervisor will have knowledge of applicable International Classification of Diseases coding and coding requirements for different Medical Provider types such as hospitals or physicians.

Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of CMS guidelines for MA record validity
• The ability to extract diagnosis codes from all types of medical records
• Knowledge of Medical Record Review
• The ability to communicate with other Senior Medical Coders and Physicians
• Experience supervising the work of other Medical Coders
• The ability to supervise and direct the work of Senior Medical Coders
• Responsible for the flow of medical records through the process from intake to reporting decisions
• Ability to communicate regarding complex coding issues

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited academic institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and eight (8) years of experience in abstracting and coding in both a hospital (inpatient and outpatient) and in Physician medical records.
• Current, advanced certifications from the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
• At least five (5) years of experience in abstracting and coding in both a hospital (inpatient and outpatient) and in Physician medical records.
• At least three (3) years of experience supervising Medical Coders
• Knowledge of MRR
