Sr Systems Test Engineer – ENG002059
The Sr Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for engineering, installation, configuration, integration, operation, and support of all end to end network elements and test equipment platforms as part of the multi-vendor wireless network in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL). The Sr Engineer shall be well versed in the operation of wireless network technologies including LTE, IMS, and 5G, with the ability to test and troubleshoot both network elements nodes and E2E network platforms. The role requires a good knowledge of 3GPP standards and call flows, with the ability to create, maintain and run automated test cases as part of a regression test suite that can thoroughly test all software, hardware and feature changes.
- Engineer, configure, operate and troubleshoot issues within the Advanced Technology Lab.
- Create, maintain and run automated test cases as part of the ATL regression test suite.
- Assist lab users in performing their testing activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, network configuration, and test equipment set up.
- New equipment site prep, including power and space planning, interconnect, and environmental conditioning.
- Vendor management, including site walks, requirement gathering, and vendor communication and direction.
- Network node IP planning and CIQ (Customer Information Questionnaire) creation.
- Create and follow U.S. Cellular lab processes and procedures to address scheduling, testing and operation of lab resources.
- Assist ATL leadership with forecasting future testing requirements to ensure that the proper test equipment and functionality is in place.
- Work closely with U.S. Cellular’ s network equipment manufacturer partners to develop method of procedures (MoPs) for equipment upgrades and reconfiguration.
- Knowledge of Wireless Network test equipment including the configuration and operation of Spectrum Analyzers, UE Emulators, Core network load generators, Protocol Analyzers, impairment appliances, and deep packet inspection tools.
- Salary range: $81,500-$153,501
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent work or military experience.
- Solid understanding and a minimum of 3 years experience working with LTE, IMS, VoLTE, and 5G wireless network technologies.
- Hands on experience in system design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of wireless technologies.
- Proven track record in delivering results under tight deadlines in a team context.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong technical skills related to EPC and RAN architectures, design, and analysis.
- Knowledge of 3GPP specifications and call flows.
- Experience configuring network equipment with vendor provides OSS (Operation Support System) platforms: Nokia, Ericsson, Openet, Samsung, and others.
- Track record as a proven problem solver and an effective team player.
- Experience in creating technical documentation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree (MSEE) or equivalent.
- Experience with IP networking, Cisco CCNA/CCNE certification.
