We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to join our team to work closely with the stakeholders to ensure that cyber security projects meet objectives across our organization. They are responsible for various tasks, including process re-engineering and documentation of activities related to this area. A Cyber Security Specialist’s responsibilities include using their skills to detect insecure features and malicious activities within our networks and infrastructure. They will implement customized application security assessments for client-based asset risk, corporate policy compliance as well as conduct vulnerability assessment. They should have an advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements. The specialist’s focus is not only limited to assessing whether vulnerabilities exist but also how those risks could be mitigated which can help provide organizations with more confidence about system stability going forward. Ultimately, you will work to ensure the security of our business information, employee data and client information throughout our entire network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for monitoring and managing multiple security technologies to detect IT security incidents. The analyst will follow operational processes and procedures to appropriately analyze, call out, and assist in remediation of critical information security incidents.

  • Detect and analyze opportunistic and persistent threats, deploying counter measures and conducting risk and vulnerability assessments across the enterprise.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and analyze security intelligence generated by company security controls.
  • Participate in detection and response of cyber incidents, assist in recovery of operations, and assist in formulating, updating, and communicating short- and long-term organizational cybersecurity strategies and policies.
  • Develop tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) and lead triage, containment, and eradication of threats.
  • Participate in threat hunting activities and threat analysis to maintain a high degree of awareness on the current threat landscape.
  • Provide effective incident response, by correlating intelligence from intrusion prevention systems (IPS), endpoints and third parties.
  • Develop and produce reports on all activities and incidents to help maintain day-to-day status.
  • Develop and report on trends and provide focus and situational awareness on all issues.
  • Maintain documentation for all systems and create user guides and standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to enterprise change management procedures and corporate security policies.
  • Produce reports identifying significant or suspicious security events to appropriate parties. Include latest security threat information and tie back to specific intrusion sets of nation state actors when possible.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Cyber Security experience
  • Proven work experience as a Cyber Security Specialist or similar role
  • Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data and other attack artifacts
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions
  • Proficiency with antivirus and security software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
  • Experience managing enterprise security appliances and/or security monitoring software (IPSs, firewalls etc.)
  • Experience administering multi-factor authentication systems
  • Experience administering enterprise vulnerability management and security awareness solutions
  • Thorough understanding of the relevant incident response steps, as well as knowledge of various security architectures and frameworks (Zero Trust, SABSA).
