Technical Writer (Software Development) – remote/work from home

Role and Responsibilities
The Technical Writer is an important part of providing clear communication both within the company and to our vendors and customers. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating new documents such as user guides, standard operating procedures, and customer-facing technical instructions; maintaining and organizing document repositories with version control; and helping departments throughout the company adhere to document repo standards. The Technical Writer will work closely with the software development and business analytics teams to prioritize documentation requests. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Defining and communicating document repository standards for various document types.
- Creating user guides for our internal operations software.
- Creating user guides for our external customer and member applications.
- Creating API documentation for both internal stakeholders and external consumers.
- Converting existing SOPs to conform to document best practices.
- Reviewing and/or copyediting content developed by others in the company.
- Coordinating with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately documented.
- Working closely with management to ensure workload is properly prioritized.
- Abide by all obligations under HIPAA related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
- If a HIPAA violation is discovered, whether individually or by another, you must report the violation to the Compliance Officer and/or Human Resources.
- Attend, complete, and demonstrate competency in all required HIPAA Training offered by the company.

Required Skills and Competencies
- Proven work experience in software development.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills to support business writing, professional correspondence, and meeting facilitation with diverse group of stakeholders at all management levels within the organization
- Familiarity with pharmacy management, especially around adjudication, formularies, and pricing is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload and priority to get the most important work done in a timely fashion.
- Ability to work independently and provide project and team direction given general guidance.
- Ability to consolidate ideas and collaborate with cross-functional working groups.
Strongly Desired Skills
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
- Knowledge and experience working with document repositories.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- Full-time/Salaried/Exempt.
- Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00AM to 5:00PM CT. We cover clients from West to East Coast, work times must be adjusted to cover meetings in all time zones. Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays pursuant with industry demands.
Travel
This position may require some travel.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technology or technical business discipline.
- Understanding of Agile development.

- Experience in healthcare IT field.
