3 expert videos to great job interviews

The web is full with interviewing tips and 101s in how to stand out in your job interview.  Most are very specific and outline details and techniques that might have worked for some but, the truth of the matter is, most don’t apply to everyone’s situation. See, there’s no guide on how the interview is going to develop or how one thing you say might trigger a topic you might not be prepared for. Ok, there probably is a guide out there but honestly, it’s not based on general experiences.

However, sometimes you stumble in the internet with people who do know what they’re talking about and actually make perfect sense. See, good advice is rare to find but, if you look deep enough and truly want to find something that is going to help you get better  and not do it for you (so they say), you will definitely identify who to listen to.

On the other hand, we know not everyone has the time to search extensively and watch long videos until you get to the one that will make you learn something helpful. So, since we at jobbinghood.com are in the business of helping people find their dream job, we have narrowed down your search to 3 must see videos that will definitely teach you the art that is showcasing your best features.

One must see is: How to interview well (and feel comfortable) by Linda Raynier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfpuTjmAJow&t=151s

The approach taken by her in this video can be summarized with this very expression found in the first 2 minutes of the video “The key to feeling comfortable in an interview is all based on how you view yourself”.

Basically, if you know exactly why you are an asset and actually know how valuable that makes you, it will show. On top of that, you will control the narrative on how the interviewer sees you.

Another one to watch is: How to convince employers to hire you by Don Georgevich. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP0r-5VzG90&t=49s

This video is a must see. It talks about projecting yourself as the right fit for the company. The key here is fit. Remember, they already are interviewing you so, they know you’re qualified.  The need to know you fit in their operation. You have to fit in there day to day. Fit with their core values. If this is not the case, or at least is not what they’re getting from you, it’s not going to work out.

Finally, but definitely not least, the only thing you know for sure is coming: Tell me about yourself – A good answer to this question by Dan Lok. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v-wyR5emRw&t=301s

Oh it’s going to happen. On top of that, answering right might be all you need to land this job.  The best way to describe how helpful this video is, comes from an equation highlighted by the author which is: “Tell me about yourself = What value do you bring to the organization”.   Have an answer prepared.  Make this answer about you and only you but stay in course on how this is pertinent to the company and not about details of your day to day life.

These videos have a lot of views and might seem like the obvious choice on this topic but they’re also true and extremely helpful if you know what information to take from them. Remember, you want to listen to the people who want to make you better and again, not do it for you.
