MSHA Turns 45

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration was created in 1978 as a result of the Mine Act, and is responsible for setting and enforcing regulations that protect miners’ safety and health. While MSHA’s work is far from done, annual mining fatalities have dropped significantly in the past 45 years.
