Tata asked that the NCLAT order, that found him guilty of taking oppressive and prejudicial steps against the interest of the shareholders of Tata Sons, be quashed.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Ratan Tata, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.financialexpress.com\/market\/stock-market\/tata-consultancy-services-ltd-stock-price\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TCS<\/a>, Tata Tele and Tata Trusts have also separately moved the SC seeking stay on reinstatement of ousted Cyrus Mistry as director of the three group companies. Tata Sons Ltd had on Thursday approached the top court against the re-instatement of Mistry as its executive chairman asking the NCLAT order, which termed conversion of Tata Sons from public to private company as \u2018illegal\u2019, be set aside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy lazy-hidden alignnone wp-image-1812584 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.financialexpress.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/a3-lazy-load\/assets\/images\/lazy_placeholder.gif\" data-lazy-type=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338.jpg 660w, https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338-620x413.jpg 620w, https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338-401x267.jpg 401w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\"\/><\/p>\n<p><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1812584 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338.jpg 660w, https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338-620x413.jpg 620w, https:\/\/images.financialexpress.com\/2020\/01\/cats-338-401x267.jpg 401w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\"\/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>Ratan Tata, who stepped down as Tata Sons chairman after handing over the reins to Mistry in December 2012, said the NCLAT has found him guilty without any \u201cfactual or legal foundation of the oppressive and prejudicial\u201d steps.<br \/>The NCLAT\u2019s December 18 judgment is \u201cspecious, wholly erroneous and unsustainable,\u201d and the reliefs granted were prejudicial to the interests of Tata Sons and all its stakeholders including him, he said. \u201cThe findings of the appellate tribunal are wrong, erroneous, contrary to the record of the case and require consideration by the SC,\u201d Ratan Tata said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch reliefs, if not set aside by the SC, would cause chaos in the functioning of Tata Sons, undermine shareholder sovereignty and lead to a break-down of its governance structure,\u201d the Tata patriarch, who is also a shareholder and former executive chairman and director of the Tata Sons Pvt Ltd (formerly Tata Sons Ltd), added.<\/p>\n<p>The appellate tribunal had castigated Ratan Tata and others for \u201cunfair abuse of powers\u201d and held them responsible for engineering the coup to oust Mistry as the executive chairman of Tata Sons.
