Job Description:

This position will be responsible for the review and maintenance of the Hospital and Professional charge documents, charge capture processes for accuracy and completeness, as well as ongoing communication of changes in third-party payer and government payment rules to departmental and clinical staff. This position is responsible for facilitating proper charge capture, billing, clinical documentation practices, and CPT/HCPCS and ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 coding using the hospital’s electronic information systems and manual processes. This Person will also be responsible for weekly Kronos review and submission for all Laboratory personnel.

Work Hours/Shift:

Full time 40hrs Mon-Fri days

You Will Be Responsible For:

Exceptional Patient Care: Working with electronic patient financial management and medical records information systems and manual processes

Excellent Communicator: Communication of changes in third-party payer and government payment rules to departmental and clinical staff.

Strong Educator: Review and maintenance of the Hospital and Professional charge documents, charge capture processes for accuracy and completeness.

Technical Familiarity: Facilitates proper charge capture, billing, clinical documentation practices, and CPT/HCPCS and ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 coding.Medical record review and claims auditing. Familiar with Hospital Regulatory policies.

Active Teamwork: Kronos review and submission for all Laboratory personnel.

Requirements:

Minimum HS Diploma. Preferred Associates degree.

Required certification in CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or specialty coding.

Two to five years experience in Hospital charge capture process review, medical record review, and claims auditing experience with hospital background and in working with regulatory and policy

Three years experience in hospital working with electronic patient financial management and medical records information systems and manual processes outside of these electronic systems, with significant exposure to healthcare coding/billing/reimbursement.

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in order to produce reports, analyses, and other detail as requested experience in reviewing medical records for medical necessity, charging and coding.

A strong understanding of HIPAA laws and requirements as they relate to review and reporting of documentation.

Knowledge of managed care and third-party payer benefits designs and reimbursement requirements.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
